Tracking & the Art of Seeing
Paul Rezendes
April 27-29
Tracking is the art of seeing, the art of observation. It is a skill that
requires your attention and focus in the moment, like that of a wild animal
who is present, alive, and immersed in its senses, seeking information
about its environment from its entire body. Tracking engages our whole
being, enables us to touch that wild within, and is the best way to learn
about an animal, short of observing it in the wild undisturbed by our presence.
Discover what animals inhabit an area by interpreting vegetation for signs
of browsing, scat, tracks, and other traces of animal activity. This workshop
is limited to 15 people and costs an additional $20.
Paul Rezendes wrote the excellent Tracking and the
Art of Seeing: How to Read Animal Tracks and Sign and The Wild Within.
With his wife and partner, Paulette Roy, he co-wrote Wetlands: The Web
of Life. Paul is a naturalist and internationally published photographer
(his beautiful photographs grace his books), and his almost 30 years of
experience make him one of the leading trackers in the country. His love
of nature, unique teaching style, sense of humor, and keen observation
will change the way you see the natural world.
