Who is Emmanuel? He has answered "I am you without your fear." Ram Dass sees him as a kindly, loving, and wise uncle. He's a shower of light, our dearest friend, the presence of love and wisdom. He says new teachers aren't necessary, we all know the truth: it is our essence. Our task is to live it. That is why a retreat can be such a help. Practice is easier in a community.
The workshop will begin with a simple and powerful meditation. Then
Emmanuel will speak, establishing the theme for the gathering. He will
answer our most important, personal questions, thoughtfully and personally,
with a gentle and often wry sense of humor. As we listen, we begin to see
ourselves more gently, more sweetly, and with compassion. Emmanuel's teachings
always return us to ourselves, urging us to hold to no other voice than
our own heart's knowing. Our pain stems from turning away from our own
truth, so he brings us back to the ultimate authority of our heart's voice.
Love is, after all is said and done, the only thing that's real.
Asked if there were anything she'd like on this visit, Pat wrote, "I
would love to have time for each one to do something creative - to write
a poem or a song or a skit to celebrate our wonderful Beingness. And let's
take the time to be with each other in our sorrow. We all have it, yet
we're so intent on putting on a cheerful face. This serves nothing but
a lot of false images accumulated in childhood and in the rest of our lives.
And let's celebrate our courage to agree to be human - again and again."
