Practice will include comparing your discoveries in shamanic journeys, as well as applying these skills to solving personal problems. You will also be provided with methods for journeying to discover and study with your own individual spiritual teachers in non-ordinary reality, a classic step in shamanic practice. You will learn how the journey is utilized to restore spiritual power and health and how shamanism can be applied in contemporary daily life to help heal oneself, others, and the Planet. Completion of this workshop, which is also known as the Basic Workship, qualifies you to take more advanced workshops and training courses with Michael Harner and the faculty of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.
David Corbin lives on the coast of Maine, where he watches eagles circle overhead and hears loons call. He remembers growing up in NYC, where the great teaching was the nature of humanity, but summers he sought what was not taught, exploring and imagining there was more, experimenting with rituals, seances, astrology, and learning all things were connected. He studied astronomy and physics to learn all was one and psychology to learn why we are as we are. Eventually he discovered shamanism and a teacher, Michael Harner, who shared what he knew with those who were interested. Nan Moss grew up both along the Chesapeake Bay and around NYC, living with a strong sense of a greater hidden reality connected to nature. She later traveled extensively, gaining a first-hand view of cultural diversity, taught school in Montana for several years, looked for fires from a tower 90 feet high, where she experienced solitude, weather, and intimate lightning strikes. Then she went to graduate school and discovered The Way of the Shaman and core shamanism. 'Eureka!!' Lightning struck. Now David and Nan teach for the Foundation for Shamanic Studies in the Northeast, see clients in a private shamanic counseling and healing practice and help people connect with the spirits. Their path includes healing, great joy, challenge, and profound learning. The compassion of the Spirits encountered along the way sustains their love of life and offers a vehicle to contribute to the world.
