Young People's Camp (YPC)

Rosa Kessler

July 13 - July 19 and July 20 - July 26

Young People's Camp is all about fun! A day at YPC might include singing together, playing new games in the field, making puppets, painting our faces, dressing up like pirates, building pillow forts, talking with each other, throwing dance parties, swimming, exploring the woods, sharing stories around the camp fire, playing ultimate frisbee, meeting new friends, and laughing together at mealtimes while we eat yummy food.

The work of childhood is play. Through play, children learn about themselves and the world around them. Rowe is a camp, not a school, so we can emphasize play, and we do. This is how we get such wonderful people to be on our staff. They create a loving, nourishing camp where everyone can explore and be challenged in an atmosphere free of competition and criticism. For many, YPC is the first time away from their family. This can be scary, but it's also an exciting, growing time. Our goal is a really positive first experience away from home for each camper, so camper enrollment is limited to 20 for each session. With a generous staff to child ratio, each camper gets lots of individual, loving care.

The goals for YPC are to create a sense of community and safety, use the environment as a learning tool, be free to explore who we are and our relationship with others, use art for expression, learn to respect others, embrace diversity, encourage the magic of childhood, and develop spiritual awareness and appreciation. Through play and celebration YPC campers learn to love themselves, live in a community, and care about the world they live in. Join the magic of YPC!

This camp runs concurrently with Transitions Camp.
