The Resonance of Spirit

William Spear
February 21-23

Joyful gospel music at a Baptist tent revival in Macon, Georgia inspires a Muslim man to deepen his covenant with Allah; witnessing a Buddhist purification ceremony near a tragic car crash, a Mormon nurse is moved to explore a new form of meditation; a once observant Jew rekindles his faith after experiencing the ritual of six Native American men inside a sweat lodge. Each reveals a different example of the Resonance of Spirit.

In whatever way we manifest it in our lives, spiritual practice can become a vital component of everyday life and personal well-being. Whether we garden, journal, meditate, or pray, the desire to nourish our spirit grows out of what resonates with and complements other aspects of our lives. This workshop explores a wide range of teachings that distill into four distinct cosmologies and their energies that encompass all spiritual practice. Understanding the resonance of spirit allows a deeper development of our relationship with the divine, as well as a respectful appreciation of other paths.

Based on a simple yet profound examination of the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching and their exquisite order and interconnectedness, this course unifies spiritual practices in a mandala of universal harmony. A fascinating journey into the blend of our personal psychology and spiritual perspectives, this course explores the core teachings of Buddha, Jesus, Moses, St. Francis of Assisi, Mohammed, Lao Tzu, and other religious visionaries. This will lead us closer to our own core beliefs, and we will see how they interface with the older wisdoms.

At work on a new book encompassing aspects of this workshop, William Spear returns to Rowe for his fourth visit. He has long been regarded as a most personable and accessible educator in the field of spiritual studies and human potential, and his first book, Feng Shui Made Easy, published in 1996 by Harper Collins, is now in its twelfth printing and has been translated into ten languages. William's warmth, humor, insight, and practical experience add up to make him an ideal teacher for this unique course.
"I attended this workshop and this description fails to convey how deep, encompassing, and enlightening it was. Bill integrates not only the I Ching trigrams, but also the Myers-Briggs character types. We were mesmerized and came to a much greater understanding of the underpinnings of our unconscious tendencies, motivations, exercise choices (yoga versus aerobics), careers, and our reactions to life. The topic is much more expansive, revealing, and exciting than the description conveys. It's juicy, not dry."
