During the invasion of the 16th Century, Maya elders moved to the mountains to preserve their sacred traditions. The current cycle of light is a crucial time for restoring harmony on the Earth, so these ancient tools are being shared. The Maya fire ceremony, a sacred and powerful ritual, has been performed by different tribes in the same way, without alteration, for 125 centuries, yet each ceremony is utterly unique, as no two weavings will ever be exactly alike. This ceremony, a gateway to the heart, may open and align us with the heart of the heavens and the heart of the earth. This workshop is for experienced and beginning spiritual seekers with open hearts. Join in the unifying consciousness of the One Heart.
Mercedes Barrios Longfellow learned the spiritual teachings of the Mayan culture from her grandmother and her uncle. For over 25 years, Mercedes has taught the Mayan traditional healing techniques and shared the Sacred Fire Ceremonies. Gerardo Kanek Barrios spent much of his life visiting traditional elders throughout Guatemala, Mexico, Belize, Salvador, and Honduras. He shares teachings of Mayan Cosmology and the nature of the Sacred Mayan Cholqij Calendar. They have been given the assignment of sharing the sacred knowledge and ceremonies of their ancestors. Their humble and gentle approach contains the urgent message that the healing of humanity is not separate from the healing of our Mother Earth.
