We can choose to nurture and cultivate kindness, compassion, and love, the human values that are the foundation of true happiness. Explore contemplative and practical tools for deepening our unconditional love for ourselves, our human family, and the natural world. Observe 44 hours of walking kindness, the universal dance of kindness, chanting kindness, a kindness circle, sharing stories of kindness, and kindness meditation. Nawang has given his Awakening Kindness workshop around the world with people of all ages. This workshop will include a special musical performance by Nawang, whom we are honored to welcome on his first visit to Rowe. We’ve met him, and he is a beautiful being, and we invite you to join us.

Nawang Khechog fled Tibet with his family when he was three. He was a monk for 11 years, lived as a hermit for several years, and studied Buddhist philosophy and meditation with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He plays a variety of flutes, horns, and drums, performs Tibetan, Mongolian, and Tuvan overtone throat chanting, and is one of the first Tibetans to break into the international world music scene. He’s performed with Philip Glass, Natalie Merchant, Paul Winter, and Trey Anastasio, is a Grammy nominee, produced three albums by himself, and co-produced two albums with Kitaro and Peter Kater-Karuna. He brings the beauty of his ancient ritual sounds to a modern audience with original compositions that unite the old and the new.
