John Bradshaw is a towering figure in contemporary healing and we believe Rowe is the perfect place to be with him. We’re smaller and more personal than the stadiums and hotel ballrooms where he often works, and we’re more real, more interactive, and more fun than television. Besides, our food is great!
John does not make nearly as many personal appearances as he used to, so this is a rare opportunity to spend time with this master. Due to an unexpected, extended trip he was on when we went to press, we did not get the specific topic he will be sharing with us, but he will share some of his latest and most innovative work. As soon as we get more information, we will post it on our web site at www.rowecenter.org. Meanwhile, mark your calendars.
Based on his earlier visits, we expect his workshop will be highly experiential, help us reconnect with our spiritual side, and expand our capacity to love. Ultimately, healing our past and present relationships with ourselves, friends, and families will bring inner peace and self acceptance. It will also help us heal our planet and create peace on earth. Give yourself a gift of this retreat, which will be held during the autumn foliage.
Born into a troubled family and abandoned by his alcoholic father, John Bradshaw became an out-of-control teenager and an academic overachiever and . He studied for the priesthood for eight years, leaving just prior to being ordained, having earned degrees in psychology and religion. In 1965 he committed himself to a hospital and still celebrates the day he took his last drink. Before long he was in demand as a counselor, author, educator, theologian, management consultant, and public speaker, becoming a leading figure in family systems, addictions, and recovery. In 1986 “Bradshaw on the Family” was shown on public television and he became a phenomenon. The series had huge audiences across the country. His five books have sold more than four million copies. He brought the term “dysfunctional family” into the mainstream and today is regarded by millions as an inspiration and as a true American hero. We are delighted to welcome him back to Rowe.
