The media and the general public seem to think “co-dependency” has been done or is “old news.” The truth is this misunderstood, hard-to-define, and hard-to-recover-from problem is still crippling, if not destroying, many relationships. There are few resources for the recovering co-dependent and treatment facilities tend to be very expensive. Many people want help, insight, support, and emotional sobriety. This workshop will be filled with new information, insights, and tools to help you take on this old problem.

During this powerful and highly experiential retreat we will do the following,

• Define this slippery and misunderstood term.
• Explore what co-dependency really is.
• Identify your specific issues.
• Learn to establish and defend boundaries.
• Set limits (a central issue in co-dependency).
• Lay out useful recovery tools.
• Understand “process addictions” more completely.
• Explore the misuse of food, work, and isolation.
• Identify and work with addictions to romance, relationships, and love.

The workshop will be safe, confidential, and supportive. It will be fast-paced, down-to-earth, and full of humor, information, and insight. It will use small-group dynamics and safe, experiential work.

John Lee has been working with, teaching, and facilitating co-dependency and related workshops for 20 years and served as one of the original consulting board members in the founding of CODA—Co-Dependents Anonymous. A charming mixture of Alabama good ole boy, college professor, and therapist, John came to national prominence in the early ‘90s when The Flying Boy: Healing The Wounded Man sold over 250,000 copies and he appeared on Oprah Winfrey and many other TV and radio shows. He has written 11 other books, the most recent being The Missing Peace Book, which deals with unresolved anger and relationships. He believes passionately that the best creative endeavors come from the feelings that have been stuffed in the body and has earned a reputation as one of America’s leading humorists and storytellers. We are honored to welcome John back to Rowe.
