Is music necessary? Without music, our spirit suffers. Don’t leave it in the hands of “professionals,” but create your own live, acoustic music. This workshop, for all levels of experience, will be highly interactive. Reconnect with your youthful creativity. Get a jump-start so you can make the music you’ve always wanted to make. We will include songwriting, vocalizing (again, all levels), tapping into inspiration and the creative process, building confidence and performance skills, and saving the world one song at a time.
We’ll brainstorm compelling themes you want to write about, explore the different elements in a song, and engage in carefully crafted exercises. We’ll start simply and build songs brick-by-brick, learning new ways of constructing songs. We’ll find our own melodies and rhythms. We will take time to write, and we’ll address any specific questions you may have. Learn to mold your inspirations, practice honesty, and develop universal truths from personal stories, while having fun in a safe, playful, supportive, permissive, and powerful environment.
With any luck (the intersection of opportunity and persistence), we’ll return home with the personal creation of something that no one else on earth could express in the same way. We’ll have the honor of hearing some of these new pieces. Bring instruments if you like, but playing one is not necessary; you only need a willingness to proclaim what’s in your heart. Most of all, we’ll plant the seeds that will help music grow into our lives in ways that will last.
