A balanced diet of sound and music can provide remarkable balance in mind, body, and spirit. Everything in the body the blinking of the eyes, the heartbeat, the breath is vibration and pattern. Every cell, every molecule is in a dance. All health is sustained by rhythmic patterns. From mother’s first lullaby to death’s final sigh, music and sound comfort us, release us from pain, and lift us up in joy and celebration. As long as there have been people, we have drummed, chanted, sung, and improvised, but we moderns have relegated the arts and music as a discipline for a “gifted” few, who entertain us. Now we can tune into our own symphony of inner life.
Don Campbell’s mission is to help return music to a central place in the modern world. He is a driving force in the potentially revolutionary research in psycho-acoustics, the psychology of how sound and rhythms enter the brain and consciousness. He is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the astonishing power of sound to reduce stress and pain and enhance intelligence, creativity, health, and a joy-filled life.
We will discover how listening, sounding, moving, and visualization can open the heart, heighten concentration, reduce stress, and intensify creativity. By learning techniques of imagery and vocalization, deep states of listening and awareness help us focus, center, and heal. People at all levels of musical experience are invited to explore this state of profound harmony in this weekend of resonance and sonic beauty.
Don Campbell, a classically trained musician, composer, scholar, and consultant, is known for his energetic, and often dazzling teaching style that makes learning great fun. He’s traveled to over 40 countries, founded the Institute for Music, Health, and Education, and wrote the 1997 bestselling The Mozart Effect (translated into 25 languages), as well as The Harmony of Health and sixteen other books. In addition, he has produced 23 albums, including the music for The Mozart Effect series for adults and children, which dominated the Billboard Classical charts in 1998 and 1999. An old friend of Rowe, we’re honored to welcome his return. He is vice-president of Acoustic Audio Systems, a company that provides acoustic design and music for healthcare facilities.
“Don Campbell is one of the great geniuses of our times. His presentations are high art, involving all the senses and bringing his audiences to a new level of insight, delight, creativity, and aliveness.”
