We all yearn to express ourselves creatively and painting is one way to do this. No matter what age we are we all have a little artist inside us who is waiting to come out! This artist knows how to color, cut, paste, use a brush, and mix colors. We are born with this ability but gradually lose it over time. Who can say exactly why our artist goes to sleep?

Perhaps you were told that you had “no talent”? Or you have negative beliefs about your creative abilities? If something stops you from painting, you may wish to override these messages and give in to your urge to paint.

Painting is fun. This workshop is about rediscovering how good it feels to explore art materials. You will feel the juiciness and magical qualities of watercolors. You will paint with hot wax and oil pastels to create patterns on paper. You’ll scrape into wax to create textures. You will use watercolor over oil pastels to create colorful “resist” paintings.

We will use different methods to tap into our creativity, including yogic breathing, stretching, and dancing. We’ll use some guided imagery and journaling to open channels to our sleeping artist.
This program is fun for everyone: practicing artists, writers, singers, ex-artists, and total beginners! No matter where you are in your life, this class can open up areas of creativity that you never dreamed possible. The act of painting has the ability to heal and to transform us. Painting teaches self-trust and confidence in our own vision.
No previous painting, drawing, or yoga experience is necessary to tap into your inner artist. You may bring any brushes, paints, drawing pads, or collage material that you have and Linda will bring an assortment of art materials and papers for you to try, including brushes, paper, wax, oil pastel, and charcoal.
